How to Install a Claude Skill
On Skill Harbor, installing a skill takes one copy-paste. Every listing ships with an installer prompt: copy it, paste it into your Muse, and your agent fetches the files, runs a safety check, installs everything, and reports back.
What you need
Read the Prerequisites line at the top of the installer prompt. Usually the answer is nothing — no account, no API key. Sometimes a skill needs an API key or an account with the service it connects to (your calendar, your GitHub, your bank). That is the only thing you will ever do by hand.
Step by step
- Open the listing and click Get it free (or the price button). Copy the installer prompt — one click.
- Paste it into your Muse app and send. That is the whole manual part.
- Your agent takes over: it downloads the files into a temporary folder, summarizes what it found, scans scripts for anything suspicious (unexpected network calls, credential harvesting), installs the skill in the right place, and verifies the install.
- It reports back — what was installed, where, and anything left for you (usually nothing, sometimes connecting an account or pasting an API key).
Do I need a GitHub account?
No. The agent uses public downloads — a GitHub account is never required unless the prerequisites line says so. If you do have a GitHub account, the agent may use it, but it will never ask you to create one for the install itself.
Safety notes
- Every installer prompt includes a safety check: the agent scans for suspicious code and stops on any red flag instead of installing blindly.
- Listings that touch sensitive territory (shell access, crypto wallets, unofficial APIs) carry a visible security warning — read it before you install.
- Never paste passwords or API keys into chat unless the prompt explains the secure way to provide them. The agent will never ask for your Skill Harbor login.
Troubleshooting
- The agent stopped on a red flag: read its report — it will tell you what looked suspicious. Check the listing's security badge and decide whether to proceed manually.
- Claude ignores the skill: start a brand-new conversation. Skills load when the conversation starts, so an existing chat will not see the new one.
- Half the features do not work: check the prerequisites line — the missing piece is usually an API key or an account you have not connected yet.
